“This will be a great thing for the Medium Range Intercept Capability program and for the USMC, if this occurs,” Don Kelley, the Marine Corps Program Executive Officer Land Systems Ground-Based Air Defense program manager, said of a US production facility.
Lingering supply chain woes have delayed Dynetics first Enduring Shield launcher prototype delivery to the Army which has, in turn, delayed testing plans.
"Taiwan also certainly needs to be able to make sure that any invading force is caught dead in its tracks in the strait as it comes across [and] to be able to defend at the beaches and to be able to be resilient, in depth, on [the] island,” said Jedidiah Royal, the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs.
The service is on the hunt for a supersonic interceptor for Dynetics’ IFPC Increment 2 launcher, also dubbed Enduring Shield, and looking for a high-energy laser.
