Place North West | City West regenerates sheltered housing in Eccles

A 1960s sheltered housing block in Salford has been given a £3.8m eco-makeover by City West Housing Trust.
The trust has turned its Enfield sheltered scheme in Barton into one of the greenest in the UK, with a range of energy-saving environmental features designed to reduce heating costs and provide over 55's with modern apartments, on-site community facilities and round-the-clock care.
The high-rise development, consisting of 58 one and two-bedroom warden-supported apartments, now houses an EcoPod heating system, external thermal cladding to prevent heat loss, self-cleaning, energy efficient windows, new kitchens with energy-saving appliances and bathrooms with level access showers.
