Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with Dubai master developer Nakheel to construct direct entrances and exits to the Dubai Islands project from Bur Dubai. The bridge spans 1,425 metres with four lanes in each direction.

Dubai’s Road Facilities Construction Condition Index has reached 98.95 per cent, mainly due to the predictive maintenance programme and the extensive technical assessments undertaken, according to Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
