Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris has submitted his proposal for the 2021-22 budget. Harris says it focuses on public safety, health, and education. It also looks to replenish Shelby County's rainy day fund that was depleted during the past year.  Harris joins host Eric Barnes and Daily Memphian reporter Bill Dries for this week’s WKNO-TV  Behind the Headlines. In addition to discussing the upcoming Shelby County budget, Harris talks about the status of local COVID-19 vaccinations, and possible changes to the local mask mandate.    

Apple disputes the estimate

Many local restaurants and retail establishments have been hit hard by COVID-19. Despite the pandemic and its economic casualties, the President and CEO of Downton Memphis Commission (DMC) Paul Young says that no major local projects and developments have ceased; all are looking to advance. "I’m not doing well," Sadie said. "I lost half my heart, my best friend, my everything." They were senior high school sweethearts. Chase was a swimmer, Sadie a diver. Inside the hospital when Chase was told he had months to live, he and his dad, Brad Smith, had a heart-wrenching talk.
