The Detroit Lakes planning commission unanimously recommended approval of the new zoning category March 23 after removing gas stations as a possible conditional-use and making other modifications.
Members of the Detroit Lakes Planning Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit and rezoning for a proposed Eventide Senior Living Community on East Shore Drive by a 5-3 vote during their most recent meeting on Oct. 27. Dozens of residents from the east side of Detroit Lake showed up to the meeting and voiced their opposition to the facility. Next stop for the proposal will be the Detroit Lakes Community Development Committee on Nov. 7.
The former ERA Northland Realty sign over the offices at the southeast corner of Washington Avenue and Frazee Street in downtown Detroit Lakes now reads Counselor Realty, marking a significant change on the local real estate scene. ERA Northland owners Dave and Patty LaBarre have closed up shop and headed into retirement, selling their former office building to Counselor Realty partner Eric Lundmark.
