YOUNGSTOWN — The COVID-19 pandemic virtually shut down the Covelli Centre and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre for more than nine months in 2020, but the city-owned facilities managed to finish the year with a $10,915 operating surplus. The surplus is because JAC Management Group, which operates the two facilities, received $353,310.59 from the federal Paycheck Protection Program to cover payroll and benefits as well as utility costs, Eric Ryan, its president, said. “If you had told me last April that we’d make a little money in 2020, I would have said you were nuts,” he said. ...

Special to the Journal BOARDMAN — The Mahoning Valley’s state-sponsored mass COVID-19 vaccination site will be at the former Dillard’s department store spot at the Southern Park Mall. The site is expected to open in late March, with specific dates and times when eligible people can get vaccinations made public prior to the opening, Dan Tierney, Gov.
