Whanganui businessman Robert Bartley has died at the age of 69 following a long battle with cancer.
The owner and founder of the Bartley Group was awarded the Queen's Service Medal for Services to the Community in 2019.
A statement from the Bartley Group said Rob was a well-known and much-loved local businessman and, as proud Whanganui locals, he, his wife Ann and their family recently established the Robert Bartley Foundation to ensure Rob's legacy of giving back to his local community continues.
The foundation's primary aim is to support the delivery of public health services and improved health outcomes for people in the greater Whanganui region.

Whanganui's biggest Christmas lunch continues to grow each year, with more than 500 people gathering in the Eulogy Lounge at Wanganui Racecourse for this year's event.
City Mission Whanganui manager Karrie Brown, who has been on deck for the past five Christmas lunches, said it's always a fantastic community get-together and this year it was sold out.
"Last year was pretty good so I'm hoping this year is just as good. They just seem to get better and better. More people know and it's just getting more popular."

The annual City Mission Christmas Lunch will once again be held at the Eulogy Lounge at the Whanganui Racecourse this year, and City Mission Whanganui manager Karrie Brown said the tickets had been all but
snapped up.
"It'll be a really lovely menu, but it's simple, so it doesn't take a lot of preparation in the kitchen. In other years we've done chicken drumsticks, but this year we're going all out and we've got boneless chicken instead. That's a bit of a treat. It was more expensive to do, but we thought it was worth doing."
