John Kennedy (R-LA) introduced the Save the Liberty Theatre Act on Thursday, which will require the National Park Service to transfer its partial ownership of the Liberty Theatre to the City of Eunice. According to a release from Johnson s office, the NPS owns a section of the historic venue that was constructed in recent years to provide a handicap accessible entrance. However, efforts to restore the theatre are currently hindered by the NPSâs ownership interest in the property, the release states. This legislation would grant full ownership of the theatre to the City of Eunice. ....

Eunice Police investigating shooting on East Maple Avenue KATC News and last updated 2021-02-24 22:46:24-05 EUNICE, La. â The Eunice Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place at approximately 3:58 p.m. on Wednesday in the 400 block of East Maple Avenue. According to Chief Randy Fontenot, the shooting left one male victim with gunshot wound to the abdominal area, who had to be airlifted to an undisclosed location. Fontenot says that the victim suffered serious injuries but appears that he will survive. He adds that EPD does have a suspect who has not yet been located. According to EPD, video from the scene shows the victim and suspect got into a fight at a convenience store that later moved outside. ....
