Eureka council approves overlay zone development funds

Eureka council to consider pursuing overlay zone development to increase housing density

The “mixed neighborhood” overlay zone – a planning tool that can be used to increase or reduce flexibility for certain types of development, depending on the zone’s stated objectives – talks come in the wake of concern over the Jacobs campus, which was recently acquired by the mysterious AMG-Communities LLC, which filed articles of incorporation days before the purchase and have not disclosed their investors. According to the city staff report, imposing an overlay zone around the campus could give the city more control over what can be developed on-site. ....
