Dear Editor: We are so lucky! Once again the Ouray Fire Department, the City of Ouray, and many volunteers and participants served up a wonderful Fourth of July holiday experience for everyone. Special congratulations to two wonderfully badass women, Sara Martinez and Eva Schoonover!
She'll strap on her dirt biking chest protector and pull on layers of pants and a wetsuit. She'll tie the shoelaces on her Converse sneakers, the ones that let the water drain through the canvas so it's not so sloshy.
The Ouray County Plaindealer took home 19 awards last weekend from the four-state Top of the Rockies journalism contest, including five first-place prizes and an award for public service. The Plaindealer won the top number of awards among small newsrooms in a four-state region.
