MOORHEAD Heather Nesemeier will be the new Moorhead City Council member representing Ward Two in the south-central part of the city for the next 20 months.
The 38-year-old was selected on a 4-3 vote over Dave Marquardt, the other finalist out of six candidates. Evan Balko was also nominated.
An office and administrative specialist at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Nesemeier is an incredibly hardworking, incredibly driven individual who cares deeply about her community, said council member Deb White in nominating her for the position. ....

A bill penalizing North Dakota’s universities for associating with abortion providers or supporters will be making its way to the governor’s desk after the Senate voted in its favor on Monday, April 26.
In a 35-11 vote, the North Dakota Senate advanced Senate Bill 2030 one step closer to becoming law. If Gov. MOORHEAD The six applicants who are seeking to fill the vacant Ward 2 seat on the Moorhead City Council answered questions and offered ideas for the city at the council s Monday night meeting in the Hjemkomst Center.
The seven current council members will digest answers from the six candidates and debate and vote on who should be appointed at the next meeting on April 26. Councilwoman Shelly Dahlquist also encouraged residents to email or call council members to provide their input, while Mayor Shelly Carlson said written answers the applicants provided earlier were on the city s web ....

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) Candidates for Ward 2 in Moorhead explain why they are the best person to win a seat on the City Council.
“This gives us an opportunity to serve without running a full-fledged campaign, as you know that takes a whole other ball of wax energy,” said Gail Enkers.
Michael Hajostek told the council, “I just want to start giving back and everything and start making contributions to this city and help lead in various ways.”
And Heather Nesemeier said, “I love Moorhead. I chose to live here. I used to live in another community across the river.” ....
