Last year, RSPCA wildlife centres cared for 2,788 birds that were picked up by well-meaning people. But many of these birds were not actually orphans and may have been better off left in the wild. The animal charity has now given advice as it enters into one of its busiest times of the year. The majority of calls from concerned members of the public came in during the peak months of May, June and July.
