New Delhi [India], April 2 (ANI): The Election Commission on Friday suspended four officials after a video surfaced on social media purportedly showing an EVM being found in a BJP candidate s car in Patharkandi constituency following the second round of polling in Assam.
The Presiding Officer was issued a show-cause notice for violation of the transport protocol. Thereafter, the PO and three other officials have been placed under suspension. EC said in an official statement.
On examination, the polled EVM comprising of BU, CU, and VVPAT was found to be with its seal intact without any damage whatsoever. All the items have been deposited in the strong room, it said further. ....

Karimganj: The Election Commission on Friday ordered a repoll at a polling station in Ratabari seat of Assam after the presiding officer carried the EVM after polling in a vehicle which reportedly belonged to a BJP candidate.
In a statement, the EC said the presiding officer and three other officials have been placed under suspension.
“Although seals of the EVM were found intact, it has nevertheless been decided to do a re-poll at No. 149- Indira M.V. School of LAC 1 Ratabari (SC) as an added precaution,” the poll panel said. ....

The Election Commission on Friday suspended four poll officials and ordered repolling in a booth in Ratabari constituency of Assam, after the electronic voting machine used to cast the ballots was found in a car belonging to a Bharatiya Janata Party candidate.
The presiding officer, who was responsible for the transportation of the EVM, was among those suspended.
A report by the poll body said that upon examination, the seal of the EVM was found intact “without any damage whatsoever”. ....
