The Superintendent of Excise, Kamrup Metro has directed all Inspectors of Excise and AIE’s of the District to carry out extensive raids (patrolling) around temple complexes.

GUWAHATI: In view of the Maha Shiv Ratri, the Superintendent of Excise, Kamrup Metro has directed all Inspectors of Excise and AIE s of the District to carry out extensive raids (patrolling) around temple complexes. The order aims to curb the illegal sale of liquor, illicit liquor, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and liquor related crimes.
Hence all Inspectors of Excise have been instructed to keep constant and strict vigilance on the illegal trade of illicit liquor and drugs. Further, they are also directed to keep close coordination with the Superintendent of Excise, Kamrup and Deputy Superintendent of Excise in this regard. ....

Public officials outside Cleveland County are warning residents that the county commissionâs decision to dissolve a budget board could have lasting consequences.
Two weeks following the Cleveland County Commissionâs 2-1 decision to end the budget board, The Transcript spoke with several county elected officials and experts on budget and excise boards.
Critics of the commissionâs decision have said the move means fewer eyes on the budget and but others say oversight falls to an independent board whose members have no self interest in how county funds are spent â appointed members of the excise board.
One member is appointed from each commissioner district by the commission, the Oklahoma Tax Commission and the district judiciary who each appoint a candidate. ....

There is room for govt to cut excise duty on fuel without hurting revenues

The government has room to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel by up to Rs 8.5 per litre without impacting its target for revenue from the tax on the two fuels, analysts said.
Petrol and diesel prices hover at a historic high following a relentless increase in rates over the past nine months. There have been calls by opposition parties as well as sections of society to the government to reduce excise duty to ease consumer pain.
We estimate excise duty on auto fuels in FY22 (April 2021 to March 2022), if it is not cut, at Rs 4.35 lakh crore versus budget estimate of Rs 3.2 lakh crore. ....
