A group against attacks on media practitioners in Nigeria, Media Rights Agenda (MRA) on Wednesday, called on governments at all levels to ensure total protection of journalists in the country against any harm.   The organisation charged President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to commence an immediate investigation into all attacks against media practitioners as well as prosecute the perpetrators to serve as a deterrent.  

Over the past two years, the United Nations has published an astonishing number of documents on how to reform itself. Its many reports are a welcome acknowledgment of the serious flaws and problems that plague the United Nations, and they offer many useful assessments of its weaknesses as well as recom­mendations to remedy those weaknesses. Sadly, how­ever, little is being done to implement these recommendations.

The United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are set to launch a new self-paced online course on freedom of expression, access to information, and the safety of journalists.
