San Antonio is rolling out a COVID-19 vaccine registry to the public on Wednesday, after some officials resisted for months an idea that many other cities and states have adopted.
Colleen Bridger, the city’s coronavirus czar, said at the city-county pandemic briefing Monday that the registry, also referred to as a waiting list, initially will be open to people 65 and older. It is a tool for residents to sign up and be notified when a vaccination appointment becomes available.
Residents can register themselves or do so on behalf of a family member. A small number of people have already been registered as part of a trial run through the city’s 311 line, Bridger added.

Bexar County District Attorney Joe D. Gonzales released a 32-page “midterm report” Tuesday on his first two years in office, giving himself high marks for reorganizing his 500-plus staff to pursue criminal justice reforms, creating new divisions and programs and revamping old ones.
He also touted his commitment to transparency, posting the report on his office’s web page and pointing to the availability of prosecution statistics updated regularly on online dashboards to show the community the work underway.
Despite COVID-19 putting many court proceedings on hold for more than a year, Gonzales said he has accomplished much of what he promised while campaigning in 2018.

Residents flock to Movin' on Main event in Schertz

With sunny weather beckoning, people grabbed their bicycles, scooters, strollers, tennis shoes and four-legged friends and headed to Main Street in Schertz on Sunday.
Portions of the street were cordoned off to traffic for the third Movin’ on Main, an event put on by the city in partnership with the Schertz Family YMCA that is aimed at encouraging health and wellness. The annual event was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Vendors lined the street, hosting games and putting on demonstrations. Families tried yoga and martial arts, listened to a band, played cornhole, scaled a rock wall and chowed down at The Purple Pig BBQ.
