The second tranche of data from the Bihar government's caste-based survey - and the full report on the economic condition of 215 Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes - was published Tuesday.
Bihar chief minister Nitsh Kumar said the increase in quota will allow OBC and EBC to have larger share in tune with their population
The report also acknowledged considerable poverty among the upper castes, though the percentage was, predictably, much higher among backward classes, Dalits and tribals.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has proposed increasing quota for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, as well Other Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes, to 65 per cent.
