Town boss Joe Royle has said that incoming signings are on hold until the future of the out of contract players has been resolved. Royle is waiting to hear back from Jermaine Wright, Richard Naylor, Jim Magilton, Chris Makin, John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis regarding the new deals they were recently offered.
Boss Joe Royle says he expects a number of moves in and out of Portman Road over the summer. Tommy Miller, already a target of Sunderland, Drissa Diallo, Jim Magilton, Pablo Couñago, Fabian Wilnis and Shefki Kuqi are all out of contract at the end of June.
Town will play FAI First Division side Finn Harps at their Finn Park ground on Tuesday 7th July (KO 8pm). The match is the first of a number of Irish pre-season games set to be confirmed.
Dutch veteran Fabian Wilnis says he has not been offered a testimonial by the Blues, despite a Dutch report claiming he had been given a game as part of his new one-year deal. Wilnis has now signed his new contract.
Another last day of the season decider and again other sides failed to do Town a favour. As with Wolves and Blackburn on the last day of the last two seasons both Charlton and Leicester failed to take points from Liverpool and Leeds. Unlike on those occasions Town failed to fulfil their side of the bargain, only managing a draw with Derby.
