Early morning fire at the Hatch Pit IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Idaho Falls Fire reports a fire at the Hatch Pit on 33rd N has been knocked down. The calls started coming in shortly after 4 a.m., and engine 1, engine 3, water tenders 2, 3 and 4 a HEMTT and a battalion chief responded. Crews are in the process of removing the debris and putting more water on the piles. County equipment operators are helping with the efforts as well. There have been no injuries reported. Apr 19, 2021 HANLEY FALLS — A motorist was airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital after his car struck a tree on Friday, the Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office said. The crash is under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash at the intersection of Yellow Medicine County Road 18 and Minnesota Highway 23 in Hanley Falls, a news release said. Authorities perform high-angle rescue at Palisades State Park The Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office said they were involved in a high-angle rescue in Garretson. The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Palisades State Park in Garretson when authorities were called to help in the high-angle rescue of an individual, according to a release by the MCSO. The subject fell 30 feet off a cliff and was still 60 feet off the ground, according to scanner traffic. WFFD: Fire started by cigarette, gasoline Christopher Walker (chris@timesrecordnews.com) Fire units responded to the call about 6:30 p.m. and saw smoke coming from the structure. WFFD assistant fire marshal Eddie Mawson said one person at the home suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment. The man was smoking a cigarette while carrying a can of gasoline through the house when he dropped the can and the cigarette sparked the fire. The America Red Cross was not called. The fire caused approximately $24,000 in damage to the home and contents.
