Sri Lanka : No decision yet on the reopening of Western Province schools in January

Sat, Dec 19, 2020, 12:57 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
Dec 19, Colombo: Authorities say no decision has yet been made on the reopening of schools in the Western Province in January.
Director of the Family Health Bureau Dr. Chitramali de Silva addressing the media said that a discussion was held with the Ministry of Health in this regard.
Based on the Covid situation, she said schools in all parts of the island except the Western Province would reopen in January.
However, she noted that this decision may also change.
She said school principals could decide whether it was safe to reopen a school in their area on the advice of the area health officer, adding that school canteens were not allowed to operate and therefore children should bring their own food from home.
