Neptune Energy Norge, operator of production licence PL 938, has completed the drilling of wildcat well 6407/8-8 S. The well, which was drilled about 14 kms northwest of the Draugen field in the Norwegian Sea, encountered oil and gas in the Garn formation, which was the primary target. The preliminary calculation of the size of the discovery is between 1.0 and 3.5 million Sm3 of recoverable oil equivalent.

Norwegian oil and gas company Aker BP has made a new oil and gas discovery near its operated Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea and will consider tying the discovery into this field.

Aker BP has concluded the drilling of wildcat well 6507/3-15 in PL 941. The well, which was drilled about 14 km northeast of the Skarv field in the Norwegian Sea, encountered an oil and gas column totalling about 115 metres in the Middle and Lower Jurassic. Preliminary estimates place the size of the discovery between 1.7 and 5.7 million standard cubic metres (Sm3) of recoverable oil equivalent. The licensees will consider producing the discovery via the Skarv field.
