Israel Ziv, a highly respected retired Israeli Army General, was enjoying a leisurely Saturday, taking a bike ride around his residence when he received a series of urgent alerts about a grave threat looming over the nation. Initially, he believed these alerts pertained to a routine rocket attack originating from Gaza. During an interview with India Today TV, Ziv recounted that it took approximately an hour for him to grasp the full magnitude of the unfolding situation.

Reports have surfaced indicating that Hamas terrorists possessed detailed maps of multiple locations in Israel, including military bases, signifying the extensive strategic preparation behind the assault. These maps not only pinpointed targets but also indicated tactical weaknesses in Israel's defence.

Hamas, also known as the Islamic Resistance Movement, emerged in 1987 during the First Intifada. Founded by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, a Palestinian refugee living in Gaza, it has its roots in the Muslim Brotherhood, a prominent Sunni Muslim organisation established in Egypt in the 1920s.
