Greg Cook of Birmingham, an attorney for 30 years who is general counsel for the Alabama Republican Party, announced today he is running for a seat on the Alabama Supreme Court next year.
Cook is running for the seat held by Associate Justice Mike Bolin, who is not eligible for another term because of a 70-year age limit on the election of judges.
The Republican primary is May 24.
Cook describes himself as a constitutional conservative.
“Judges should not legislate from the bench, but should apply the plain meaning of the written law,” Cook said in a press release. “Judges should be like neutral umpires – just calling the balls and strikes – not favoring one side over another.” ....
