The California Dental Association supports the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' move to pay for medically necessary dental procedures.
The AMA is calling on Congress to prevent cuts to the Medicare physician payment system following the HHS’ and CMS’ finalization of the 2023 Physician Fee Schedule. “The Medicare payment schedule released today puts Congress on notice that a nearly 4.5 percent across-the-board reduction in payment rates is an ominous reality unless lawmakers act before Jan. 1,” AMA
The 2023 Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor — which calculates how much a physician is reimbursed by Medicare for services — changed to $33.06, a $1.55 decrease from 2022 at $34.61. The American Medical Association strongly opposes the cuts.
(UPDATED) Advocacy work curbed some more “draconian” cuts, but many societies see more pain ahead and no vision for lasting reform.
