Sentencing set for December; Skeete faces as much as life in prison
A Newport News man was convicted Friday of selling the fentanyl-laced heroin that killed one man and seriously injured another nearly five years ago.
Mark Anthony Skeete, 35, once faced the possibility of the death penalty if convicted of the slayings — prostitution and drug deals gone bad — committed within an 18-day span in the summer of 2014. But federal prosecutors took capital punishment off the table in June.
After a four-day trial, a jury in U.S. District Court in Richmond convicted Christopher Ray Robertson on 20 counts in two separate robbery sprees in late 2013 and late 2014.
