Over 300 rabbits and rodents sent on their way for adoption in Arizona went missing. It now emerges they may have been sold to a local reptile food supplier, as legal proceedings continue.
Officials at both humane societies said they were investigating who arranged the transfer and what, exactly, had happened to the animals.
