WILL DONATE ONE DOLLAR TO THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION. FIVE TIMES DAY IS THE BUSIEST DATE FOR FLORISTS -- VALENTINE’S DAY IS THE BUSIEST DATE FOR FLORISTS. HOW THEY ARE GETTING READY TO TACKLE THE HOLIDAY AND A PANDEMIC. MATT: VALENTINE’S DAY LAST YEAR IT WAS WEEKS BEFORE THE PANDEMIC TOOK HOLD IN KANSAS CITY. IT WAS THE LAST HOLIDAY THAT MANY OF US CELEBRATED BEFORE COVID UPENDED LIVES. IT WILL LOOK DIFFERENT WITH FEWER PEOPLE GOING OUT TO CELEBRATE BUT THAT COULD BE GOOD NEWS. ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF FLORISTS, THEY’RE EXPECTING THIS COULD BE THE BIGGEST SALE IN DECADES WHEN IT COMES TO SALES. MOST OF THAT DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. AT THE FIDDLY FIG, IT HAS BEEN CONTROLLED CHAOS AS THEY PREPARE FOR THE RUSH. AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PANDEMIC, THE SHOP HAD TO CLOSE DURING THE STAY-AT-HOME ORDERS, WHEN THEY REOPENED THEY FOUND OUT ONE OF THE HARDES PART WAS GETTING FLOWERS FROM GROWERS. THE TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS THE SUPPLY CHAIN IN SHAMBLES. IT IS GETTING BETTER BUT NOT BACK TO NORMAL. THIS VALENTINE’S DAY NOT ONLY DO THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH SUPPLY ISSUES AND COVERED PERCUSSIONS, THEY ARE DEALING WITH THE COLD THAT CAN KILL PLANTS AND FLOWERS IN MINUTES. >> COLD DAMAGE IS HORRIBLE AND I HAVE NOTES ON EVERYTHING, IF YOU GET IT AT WORK, TAKE IT HOME, PUT THESE BAGS BACK ON IT. I EXPECT A LITTLE COLD DAMAGE, HOPEFULLY WE WILL MITIGATE THE MAJORITY. IT IS A PROBLEM. MATT: FOR DELIVERIES THIS WEEKEND, THE DRIVERS WILL BE CHECKING AND CALLING BEFORE THEY MAKE THE DELIVERIES TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE, SO THEY DO NOT LEAVE THOSE OUT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME BECAUSE THEY CANNOT HANDLE THIS WEATHER. IF YOU HAVE NOT BOUGHT FLOPPERS YET AND STILL WANT TO, MANY LOCAL SHOPS TELL US THEY STILL HAVE THEM IN STOCK AND DELIVERY SLOTS AVAILABLE FOR TODAY
