Jackie Chan pays tribute to Ng Man Tat

ACTOR Jackie Chan (
pic) praised his recently deceased colleague Ng Man Tat for his dedication to the profession, saying “there were only minor roles, no minor actors”, reported Sin Chew Daily.
“To be able to work on each acting role diligently and give your best, while at the same time present your own unique acting style, is easier said than done, ” Chan, 66, told reporters recently.
Both Chan and Ng were veterans in the Hong Kong film industry but took on roles in different genres, with Chan’s forte being martial arts films and Ng’s being comedy.
The only time the two had worked together was in the 1999 movie King of Comedy, which was directed by Stephen Chow.

THE ashes of veteran Hong Kong actor Ng Man Tat may be interred at a columbarium in Johor, reported China Press.
According to entertainment journalist Zhu Pi, who is one of Ng’s close friends when he was alive, the body of the actor will be cremated today but his ashes will likely not be placed in Hong Kong due to the exorbitant prices for an urn niche.
It was reported that despite its small size, the urn niche used to store the ashes of actress Yammie Lam who died in 2018 cost HK$170,000 (RM89,211).

Legendary Hong Kong actor Ng Man-tat, best known for co-starring alongside "king of comedy" Stephen Chow Sing-chi in many popular films, died on Saturday afternoon of liver cancer. He was 70.
Ng's friend, Tenky Tin Kai-man, chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, said the famous actor died peacefully at Tai Wai's Union Hospital at 5.16pm, accompanied by his children and wife.
"He left peacefully," Tin said at the hospital. "He died in his sleep."
Tin said earlier in the day Ng did not know his condition was so serious and had expected to recover.
