An overhaul of the FAFSA process that's supposed to make things easier is doing the opposite so far.
The application, which usually opens up on Oct.1, has been delayed due to the new changes brought to the application and is currently projected to open up in December for the 2024-25 school year.
According to the National College Attainment Network, 2022 high school graduates left nearly $3.6 billion in federal Pell grant money on the table, with Texans leaving nearly $390 million on the table. Applying for financial aid is free.
