The fire department has applied for federal grants totaling $1.6 million to purchase a ladder truck and 30 self-contained breathing apparatuses. Former Town Administrator Jamie Hainsworth, whose last day was Sunday, updated the town councilors about the applications at their Feb. 20 meeting. According to Howie Tighe, who wrote the applications as deputy fire chief,
