Historically throughout all of canada. canada is stretched on resources. it continues to send resources to british columbia. everyone in that area is on alert. everyone has a go bag, fred. i just checked the evacuation alerts. nothing new updated since 11:00 p.m., which is good news. what they need is they need the smoke to clear in that area so the water bombers can get up in the air. already harrowing rescues from the fire chief. we fought hard last night to protect our community. somebody described it to me last night in the heat of the battle as it was like 100 years of firefighting all in one night. reporter: the good news here is that there s been no loss of life reported. they continue to work as hard as they can. some structures have been lost and we await an update from british columbia. ....

In the sky necessarily in as many places as we had the night before. if you can call it a reprieve, it was. don t think for a second that wasn t totally unprecedented last night after a totally unprecedented day of firefighting yesterday. i m sad to report that we lost multiple structures yesterday again. within the city of west kelowna. they still don t know how many properties have been lost. that fire chief himself, jil, dealing with an evacuation of his family as well. there is a lot at stake as they continue to battle that fire there, going back to yellow knife, as you mentioned, the capital of northwest territories, almost completely empty now and that is a good thing. they caught some breaks there, too, and that s because of the wind and the weather conditions have allowed them to continue to fight that fire so they can protect the community. certainly, some tense days ahead. i wanted to say in speaking about the situation in hawaii ....
