View Comments AUSTIN — Finally, a piece of legislation that didn't cause the fur to fly during the debate Wednesday on the floor of the Texas House. In fact, it was a measure that all members – Democrats and Republicans alike – could not resist snuggling up to. At issue was Senate Bill 197, which would exempt the prices and fees for adopting pets from nonprofit animal shelters and similar organizations from the sales tax.
