Lack of rain dries up bass bite, but bluegill are hitting

George London, fishing solo, took second place with 14.09 pounds and also had big bass with a 7.04 pounder during the Sunday Open Series tournament May 2 at Lake Parker.
1 Around Lakeland, at Tenoroc, bass fishing was best on lakes Fish Hook, Halfmoon, Hydrilla, Lost Lake West, Shop, 3, 5, A, and G. Lakes Pine, A and C also had high catch rates. This past week, 34 large bass over 19 inches were reported, with 8 of the bass measuring over 22 inches. Speck fishing was best at lakes Fish Hook and 5. The best lakes for panfish were Cemetery, Fish Hook Picnic, 2, 5 and A. Catfish were best at lakes Cemetery, Coronet, Derby, Fish Hook, Halfmoon and A, reports FWC biologist Paolo Pecora. At Saddle Creek, rock piles, humps and ledges in deeper water are producing a good bass bite. Good numbers of tilapia have also been caught on red worms. Around town, ....
