The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Friday, April 2, in memory of Robert Simpson, Ph.D., who passed away on March 17, 2021 at the age of 94. Robert served as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology for 24 years, joining UNO shortly after it became a part of the University of Nebraska system and retiring in 1993. The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) flag will be lowered on Friday, March 5, in memory of UNO student Jake Redding. Jake passed away on Feb. 2 at the age of 22. He was a student in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences studying pre-elementary education. He is survived by his mother, Alison Dudley (James Baumguard); father, Justin Redding (Tina); sisters Carmen and Natalie; grandparents Ed and Jenny Dudley, and Jim and Anne Redding; aunts and uncles; his great grandmother; cousins; and many other loving family members including his dog Irv. Leatha passed away on Jan. 12 at the age of 81. Joining UNO in 1980 and working as a member of the Food Services team until her retirement in 2009, Leatha worked with many staff, students, and faculty during her 29 years of service. She is survived by her children: Gloria Suarez, William Ward, Roy Ward, Carmela Ward, and Robin Young; as well as a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
