noon pacific, good to be with you. i m jose diaz-balart in for katy tur. today, the department of justice released a long awaited report on the police response to the mass shooting at robb elementary in uvalde, texas. it was almost two years ago in may of 2022 when a mass murderer took the lives of 19 children and two teachers, and despite officers arriving on the scene just three minutes after the shooter gained entry to the school, it took 77 minutes for law enforcement to confront the lone gunman. the report is scathing. calling the response to the shooting a failure. noting that despite evidence that wounded children were in the classroom, the officers did not engage with the shooter. they didn t treat the perpetrator as an active threat, and those decisions among others may have cost lives. families were briefed before the report was made public. i spoke to kimberly whose daughter lexi died that day and asked her what she wants to see come from this report. accou ....

hello and welcome to the programme. coastguards are intensifyng the search for a missing submersible near the wreck of the titanic in the north atlantic, as estimates suggest the five men on board could run out of oxygen in less than 20 hours. more surface vessels and remotely operated submarines arejoining in and the rescue area has widened. the us coast guard has confirmed that more tapping noises were picked up by a canadian team overnight, but locating them is proving extremely difficult. 0ur news correspondent carl nasman is in boston and has been telling me about the search. it s taking shape and it s taking on some new urgency as well with that confirmation that we are getting that some sort of noise or sounds were detected by canadian search teams. this was on tuesday, even into wednesday morning. we still don t know exactly what or who were making these sounds or even the exact location. but what it s also doing is giving these search teams a glimmer of hope. m ....

questions to consider if the war between hamas and israel ever ends what should happen the day after the day after? the proposal that prime minister netanyahu is already turning down. and leading this hour the justice department out today with its report on the uvalde massacre detailing a list of failures on may 24, 2022, when an 18-year-old gunman made his way inside robb elementary school. young students and teachers were left trapped in the classroom with the gunman more than han hour after officers arrived on the scene. instead of confronting the gunman the justice department found officers waited and more response and more equipment. instead of storming into the classroom police were waiting around for a set of keys, keys to open a classroom door that probably already unlocked. not to mention the terrified parents left waiting outside for hours wanting to run into the school, told they couldn t, learning little to nothing about the status of their children. just ....

welcome to inside politics. i m dana bash in washington. breaking moments ago, new photos, you can see them here. it shows pieces of the titan submersible pull ed off the ocen floor. i want to go right to ottawa and paula newton. what do those pictures tell us? it was quite a spectacle as we watched the video coming in from st. johns harbor there. those are quite large pieces of the debris. we want to be sensitive to know that five people lost their lives in tragic circumstances. but when you look at these stills, investigators will prove they will actually have some investigative material that s significant. if you at some of those pieces, match them to the body, the outer shell of that titan submersible. we have a statement from the company that first was able to deploy. to the wreck more than two miles to the bottom. they say it will take several days, but clearly, they must have been satisfied just in the last few days with how they were able to map out the debr ....

potential human remains. reporter: quite right. exactly, jake. and also questions about whether or not something like this could have been prevented. again, this all happening this morning when these officials who were running this massive search, at the time search and rescue operation, the remote operated vehicle that was down on the ocean floor early this morning at 8:55 a.m. came across that debris field. right now what they are doing is the r.o.v.s are still there on the ocean floor, still trying to map the ocean floor, still trying to figure out exactly what is down there in terms of debris. the coast guard earlier today, the rear admiral gave his assessment of exactly what happened and in addition to that a deep sea expert weighed in on exactly what was found. we found five different major pieces of debris that told us that it was the remains of the titan. the initial thing we found was the nose cone, which was outside of the pressure hull. we then found a la ....
