ferreira is here to discuss the return of entourage. first bill karins has a check on extreme weather out there. flash flood emergency just dropped for the city of husouston. all schools have been closed for the houston area today as expected they will keep the kid home until all the floodwaters are completely receded so they can see how bad the damage was. one location picked up 10.5 inches of rain in one night alone. look at the radar we have cleared it out in the houston area. just one thunderstorm up to the north of there. we still have one flash flood warning out, but that s it. even beaumont and lake charms has charles has improved. so today we will see a good chance of strong storms, but they will be located further to the north up in the great lakes which is great, also the ohio valley, and it does look like possibility of isolated storms in oklahoma. so today s forecast very warm ....
As far north as that low pressure system is piling up a lot of water along the coastline. rob marciano starts off our coverage this morning in the weather center in atlanta. and the storms are moving quickly, leaving behind a trail of destruction. finally it s moving quickly, it s been a slow go the past couple of days. on the radar screen from philadelphia to new york. we ve seen rain dry out a little bit. all the way up the hudson valley up by i-87, the throughway, heavy rain, but it is making some progress to the east. there is some hope here. but, of course, folks who live in eastern new england, you re going to get hammered over the next couple of hours and you ll see delays not only in the air but also on the ground, it ll be a slow go. an additional 1 to 3 inches on top of what you ve seen in these warning areas and watches. flash flood warning out for parts of the new york city metropolitan area, including southwestern connecticut for this heavy rain band that s moving throug ....
Showing you flood rose near sussex county, you re all under flood warning until 10:30 this morning. really got a ton of rain between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. is when it really came down in that area. and that s why it s a slow go right now. here s where the rain is right now on the radar scope, we are seeing some progression, movement to the east. if we do get a slowdown, we might get a wave that developing here and that might prolong what happens. but i think for the most part, the heaviest rains are moving towards eastern new england. and that s where the brunt of the rainfall it s good to see easterly progression with it. bringing in that tropical stream of air, and that s been the biggebig biggest, biggest problem here. through parts of southwestern connecticut. flash flood warning now for the next 15 to 20 minutes as this heavy band of rainfall continues to move through. do want to touch on what s going ....
Today but what s of more immediate concern is the flooding happening across parts of alabama and georgia. flood watches and now warnings have been posted for the atlanta metro area. big creek, which is just north of atlanta, that has a flash flood warning out. there s also some flood warnings out for east central alabama, down i-20 east from birmingham. you see kind of everything is just kind of rolling over top of each other so we call this training where one cell will just pop and roll over the top of another, kind of like trains on a train track and that will get flooding in a hurry because we re not really seeing much of a dry slot through here. we thought we would by now but it s not developing too much so that has us a little bit worried. but that may be a bit of a blessing for some folks. i ll explain that in a sec. dallas is seeing thunderstorms right now. this is all within the severe thunderstorm watch that s posted until 3:00 p.m. central time. they ll probably discontinue t ....
