Synergy Bank President Jerry Ledet to deliver commencement address at Fletcher Community College The Courier and Daily Comet Jerry P. Ledet Jr., president and CEO of Synergy Bank, will deliver the keynote address at Fletcher Technical Community College s upcoming graduation ceremony. About 600 students will participate in \the ceremony, scheduled for 1 p.m. May 21 at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd. Students will particpate from classes going back to summer 2019 who were not able to participate in formal commecements that were canceled due to COVID-19. Ledet, in the banking field for 38 years, is now chairman of the board of the Louisiana Bankers Association. A native of Thibodaux, he is president of the Rotary Club of Houma and was named by The Courier as Terrebonne s Most Useful Citizen of 2018. ....

As a result, agencies whose purpose is helping to fulfill the most basic human function are seeing an explosion in the number of people who struggle to feed themselves and their families. Lawrence DeHart, president of the Terrebonne Churches United Good Samaritan Food Bank in Houma, said the number of people his agency serves has doubled. The year before last, we did 10,500 people, DeHart said. In the last 12 months, we did 21,800. Catholic Charities Executive Director Nicole Bourgeois said the volume of people fed by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux has also doubled. ....
