The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Maui until 11:15 a.m. At 8:04 a.m., Moderate to locally heavy rain continues to fall across southern Maui at rates of 1 to 1.5 inches per hour.
At 7:45 a.m., radar showed widespread moderate rainfallcontinuing over all of windward Maui, with some showers spreading to leeward areas. “Shower coverage upstream is gradually diminishing, and thus rainfall is expected to subside as the morning progresses,” according to the NWS forecast.
At 3:18 p.m. HST, radar indicated that moderate to heavy rainfall continues to move over Maui from the south. Rain rates of about 1 inch per hour were occurring over the south- facing slopes of Haleakalā. Rainfall will continue to move over Maui from the south over the next several hours.
