Floods in Sikkim: The 7,000-odd tourists-3,000 among them from Bengal-who were stuck in Sikkim following the Teesta's flash flood in Lachen Valley early on Wednesday, were safe and getting help from the Indian Army and local administration, Sikkim government said on Thursday. Weather permitting, evacuation of tourists is likely to start from Friday. With the administration hoping to fly North Sikkim tourists down to Gangtok on Friday, from where they will be sent to the plains by roads, transporters have started queueing up at petrol pumps. The north-eastern state of Sikkim is going through massive flash floods. The outpouring was the outcome of a cloud burst over Lhonk Lake in north Sikkim. As of now, the death toll due to floods stands at 14. Whereas over 102 individuals are missing which includes 22 jawans.
