Have You Met: Steve Gibson Lisa Miller It was probably the big trailer hitch that saved Steve Gibson’s life. The walleye were running in Fremont a few weeks before school was out and the Bucyrus High School freshman had gone fishing with buddy Ron Pinion and Pinion’s parents. When they got back to Gibson’s parents’ home in Bucyrus, the two boys were taking the gear out of the trunk of the car on that foggy spring night. “All of the sudden, I turned around, headlights about that far from me,” Gibson said, holding his hands way too close together. The trunk was pushed through the back window. While his friend escaped with no broken bones, both of Gibson’s legs were fractured. He thinks the trailer hitch on the back of the big car might have taken some of the impact and helped things from being worse. ....
