উত্তরপ্রদেশের লখিমপুর খেরিতে পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনে সমাজবাদী পার্টি (এসপি)-র যে সব মহিলা কর্মীর সঙ্গে বিজেপি কর্মীরা অভব্যতা করেছিল, শনিবার তাঁদের সঙ্গে দেখা করলেন কংগ্রেসের সাধারণ সম্পাদক প্রিয়ঙ্কা গাঁধী বঢরা। যে সমস্ত জায়গায় নির্বাচনে হিংসা হয়েছে, সেখানে পুনরায় ভোটের দাবি করলেন তিনি। এসপি কর্মীদের বোন সম্বোধন করে প্রিয়ঙ্কা সাংবাদিকদের জানিয়েছেন, তিনি মনে করেন সারা দেশের সমস্ত মহিলারা এই ঘৃণ্য ঘটনায় সমাজবাদী পার্টির মহিলা কর্মীদের পাশে রয়েছেন।
সম্প্রতি উত্তরপ্রদেশে ঘটে যাওয়া ব্লক পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনে হেনস্থার শিকার হতে হয়েছে সমাজবাদী পার্টির বহু মহিলা কর্মীকে। পার্টির প্রধান অখিলেশ যাদব অভিযোগ করেছেন, লখিমপুর খেরি অঞ্চলে তাঁদের প্রার্থী ঋতু সিংহ ও তাঁর প্রস্তাবক অনিতা যাদবের শাড়ি খুলে নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করেছিল বিজেপি কর্মীরা। সেই সূত্রেই প্রিয়ঙ্কার এই সিদ্ধান্ত।
শাসক দলকে উদ্দেশ করে টুইটে প্রিয়ঙ্কা জানিয়েছেন, ‘বিজেপির যে সব গুন্ডা গণতন্ত্রের বস্ত্রহরণ করতে চেয়েছিলেন তাঁরা শুনে রাখুন, মহিলারা পঞ্চায়েত প্রধান থেকে প্রধানমন্ত্রী অবধি হতে সক্ষম। বিশেষ করে এই নারী-বিরোধী প্রশাসনকে পরাজিত করতে।’ পঞ্চায়েত নির্বাচনের হিংসায় যে সমস্ত কর্মীরা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছেন, তাঁদের ন্যায়বিচারের জন্য তিনি রাজ্য নির্বাচন কমিশনকে চিঠি লিখবেন বলেও
জানিয়েছেন।
