On February 25, Georgia marked 100 years since the day Georgia was occupied by Bolshevik Red Army and lost its temporary, 3-year independence. In commemoration of the victims of Soviet occupation, national flags were flying at half-staff at the Georgian Parliament, Presidential palace, and other government buildings. High-ranking government officials visited a cemetery in Kojori to pay a tribute to the Georgian cadets who died in a battle against the Red Army.
In his address commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Soviet occupation, newly appointed PM Irakli Garibashvili said that February 25 is one of the most tragic days in the history of Georgia, and the date reminds all of the country’s citizens of the heroism of their ancestors, who died fighting for their homeland. Georgian parliament approves Garibashvili

The Parliament of Georgia by a majority of votes decided to pass a vote of confidence to the candidate for prime minister Irakli Garibashvili, his cabinet and the government program. The voting was broadcast live on the parliament’s website.
”By 89/2 vote the Parliament of Georgia expressed confidence, RIA Novosti quotes the speaker of the Parliament Archil Talakvadze as saying.
The ruling Georgian Dream has 90 mandates out of 150 in parliament, 75 votes were needed to express confidence in a candidate for prime minister.
Garibashvili left the composition of the Georgian government practically unchanged, with the exception of the heads of two departments - the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Defense: the first, instead of Maya Tskitishvili, will be headed by Irakli Karseladze, the Minister of Defense, who was Garibashvili himself a few days ago, will now be his deputy Juansher Burchuladze. ....

The Messenger - Israeli Ambassador concerned by the Anti-Semitic sermon of several Georgian priests

His Excellency Ran Gidor, acting ambassador of Israel to Georgia has recently taken to Facebook to express his concerns about the anti-Semitic rhetoric that was spotted in the Christmas sermons of several Georgian priests. He began by saying that in his New Year congratulations to the country, he expressed his sincerest hope that the friendship between Georgia and Israel communities will be strong as ever in 2021, and there will be no place for anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry in the Georgian. “Unfortunately, I was wrong” – wrote the Ambassador.
He went on to say that on January the 4, a Deacon of the Kutaisi Trinity Cathedral, Ilia Karkadze, voiced the “anti-Semitic conspiracy theories” that were “reminiscent of some of the worst blood-libels and anti-Jewish hate propaganda of 1930s Europe”. According to the Israeli Ambassador, this was not the only occurrence, as two weeks prior to the incident with the Deacon Ili ....
