They joined Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team following a call-out by a member of the public, at around 3.30pm. The Coastguard team said: "Paged to a report of ordnance on the beach at Shanklin. THE Royal Navy bomb disposal team has been called to the Isle of Wight today (Sunday) after potentially explosive items were found on a beach. The Portsmouth-based team was initially called about the suspected ordnance, found at Forelands Beach, Bembridge, in the early hours of the morning, and upon arrival found a second item, removing both from the area.
