By Chris McKeon, Local Democracy Reporter Halsnead Garden Village HALSNEAD Garden Village is set to be Merseyside’s largest housing development. One of just 14 developments given “garden village” status in 2017 and strongly backed by Knowsley Council, the Halsnead project will see 1,600 homes built on fields just south of Whiston. The plans also promise both a business park and a country park to be built on the former Cronton Colliery on the other side of the M62, with the council saying the garden village will boost the area’s economy and provide 1,000 new jobs. The project has been years in the making, with the first houses finally receiving planning permission in July 2020 and work expected to begin next year. ....
