December 18, 2020 Louisville – The Fourth Street Wharf was the scene of a very special ceremony this week. The occasion: honoring two people who did not hesitate to act and as a result their actions saved a life. LMPD Sergeant Christina Beaven nominated Les Helphenstine and Delvone Jackson for Distinguished Citizen awards and Councilwoman Barbara Sexton Smith (D-4) took swift action to make it happen. District 4 Distinguished Citizen proclamations were presented to the men on December 17 th as the crowd gathered on the wharf. In attendance were Sgt. Beaven, Mr. Blair McBride, president of Block by Block, Rebecca Matheny, Executive Director of Louisville Downtown Partnership and several more folks bringing praise and expressions of gratitude. ....
