Met, you had gone both to iraq. you want to cover the battle of muscle, how did you meet each other in the midst of this? yeah, so i had worked around in the middle east and had left yemen about a year prior to going to iraq. i want to cover the battle with plenty of people more experienced, already documenting, it but i m also a trauma nurse, and there s a real shortage of frontline providers, just because of the security situation. most ngos were further back than that, but ten minutes for trauma care, so are at an article in the post about pete and derek, who also recently passed, and the other group of medics sending facebook messaging them, saying i can come help you guys and i should say for a couple weeks. we fell in love really quickly and formed this partnership, and founded the nonprofit, that had been together ever since. ....

yeah. that point is a key one because first of all, there s also there s a lot of delta in the country and there s a lot of hospitals there s a lot of hospitalization in the country from that delta wave that never sort of subsided, right? we had sort of one and then it was moving northeast. but also you ve got these staffing issues. i have already started to hear in new york city like you ve got a lot of staff in new york city hospitals that are testing positive. so you have staff constraints there. you write that basically you say you can t surge a circuit that s been burned out. and for frontline providers there s simply no fuse that can fix the facts that they re fried. there s a certain level of constraint that s going to make this difficult either way, even if that real world data s encouraging in terms of severity of illness. right. in march 2020 like i wrote we were worried about ventilators. right now i m worried about nurses. it is a lot harder to make a nurse than it ....

Infections and growth in the patients that you see in the hospital? let me say three things really quickly. one, hospitals and emergency rooms were crowded before omicron came. we had a delta surge. we had ers that are full of tired workers that are exhausted, not enough nurses. two, right now in new york stwaef had a lot of people that have been exposed throughout the past two years and have been vaccinated. i expect we are going to have a big number of cases here and relatively fewer but still significant numbers of hospitalizations and deaths. and the third thing i want to cover is that when we are talking about this, it s probably not best to just take the advice and the feedback and ceos of hospitals. now, to be fair, they are doing everything they can but many of them have not been in the emergency department and healthcare in this country is a business. and so, no one wants to go on camera saying our emergencies rooms and hospitals are overloaded, stay away. talk to frontline ....
