The Middle Township Police Department says on Tuesday, the Cape May County Public Works Department discovered a sinkhole forming in the northbound shoulder of Bayshore Road at Fishing Creek. The county engineer determined that the subbase under a significant portion of the road had scoured out, leaving the asphalt surface unsupported. As a result, Bayshore Road was immediately closed.
