Study will pave the way for better accessibility at Ulverston train station

A STUDY which will look at improving passenger access at Ulverston Railway Station is set to begin this month.
The study is a collaboration between Furness Line Community Rail Partnership, Network Rail, the Department for Transport (DfT) and train operating company, Northern.
Ulverston Town Council has made a contribution of £10,000, whilst Cumbria County Council’s Local Committee for South Lakeland contributed £5,000 to attract the necessary match funding to progress.
Access to and from the eastbound platform at Ulverston station is currently via two steep stairwells and an underpass, or by using a barrow crossing over the railway track accompanied by station staff. ....

Furness Line Community Rail Partnership scooped a host of prizes at the National Community Rail Awards

Community Rail Cumbria celebrated four top awards in the 16th National Community Rail Awards held last Wednesday.
Furness Line Community Rail Partnership was delighted to receive second place in the ‘Tourism and Heritage’ category for their work with Morecambe Bay Partnership.
A series of vibrant easy to read wayfinding panels were created and installed at all ten stations along the Furness line between Carnforth and Barrow.
Furness Line Community Rail Partnership also received third place in the Best Community Engagement Project’ category.
