India News: Four Indian Foreign Service officers, who worked with the country's G20 sherpa Amitabh Kant, were key to India securing a consensus at the G20 Leaders.
The EAM said that the Delhi Declaration could be adopted unanimously because PM Modi's intervention had an impact on his counterparts.
During the G20 Summit in New Delhi, India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the forum had reached a consensus on strengthening multilateral development banks (MDBs). This includes boosting the World Bank's financing capacity and forming an independent panel for MDBs' capital adequacy framework. The G20 also endorsed a roadmap for implementing the recommendations of the independent review of MDBs' capital adequacy frameworks.
“On the back of the hard work of all the teams, we have received consensus on the G20 Leaders Summit Declaration. I announce the adoption of this declaration,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the G20 leaders in New Delhi.
While the declaration urged all states not to use force to ‘seek territorial acquisition’, it did not mention Russia in the context of the Ukraine war.
