Reintroduction of parking charges next month 'right thing to do' says Dundee City Council

As coronavirus restrictions ease, parking charges in Dundee will return to normal from May 10, the city council has reminded the public.
Barriers will come down late on Sunday May 9, and from Monday May 10 charges will resume at Greenmarket, Gellatly Street, Bell Street and Olympia multi-storey car parks.
Signage will be displayed at key surface level car parks in Dundee and notices on parking meters telling people that charges were suspended will be removed.

Mark Flynn, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “The resumption of a total lockdown just after Christmas meant that temporarily removing parking charges across the city was the right thing to do. ....

More charging hubs for electric vehicles are on their way in Dundee following the success and popularity of Greenmarket – and thanks to funding from the Scottish Government and the European Regional Development Fund.
Next week, the new hub at Olympia multi-storey car park will be fully operational while a third charging zone is hopefully being launched in the summer on Gellatly Street car park too.
It’s part of an exciting move to dramatically increase the number of EV chargers by Dundee City Council, funded by the Scottish Government and in partnership with SWARCO, to further boost its electric vehicle charging infrastructure. ....

The Caird Hall is now open as a Covid-19 vaccination centre for Dundee

Around 200 people an hour are filing through the doors of Caird Hall as Dundee’s vaccination battle against Covid-19 ramps up.
Despite continuing lockdown restrictions, a message of “optimism” is breaking through as people receive their jabs at NHS Tayside’s newly-acquired vaccination centre.
It was strange to see people heading into the performance venue, which has been starved of any crowds since the pandemic emerged in March of last year.

New parking arrangements near Caird Hall as venue transforms into vaccination centre

Caird Hall is being used as Covid vaccination centre.
With the Caird Hall opening as a Covid-19 vaccination centre, temporary parking arrangements have been put into place in nearby streets.
Around 200 people an hour are expected to visit the centre which is currently being used to vaccinate those aged 65-69, with the aim of inviting everyone in this age group to get their vaccine by the middle of February.
Changes put in place include a pick-up and drop-off area on the west side of Crichton Street. The area is a strictly no waiting area and drivers must not park there for the duration of a vaccination appointment. ....
